In July of 2006, REACH LA started on a journey in the underground realm of the House/Ballroom community that would catapult the organization into national exposure and proportion. Hosted and conceived by then volunteer, the Legendary Sean/Milan™ Garcon, in 10 years, the Ovahness Ball has managed to open doors and create opportunities not only for participants, but for the incredible House/Ball community that supports it. REACH LA has consistently used the Ovahness Ball as a means to forward its mission of creating a safe space for House/Ballroom participants and spectators with the purpose of mobilization and education surrounding the health disparities in underserved communities of color. None of this could be done without out the tireless support and dedication of the House/Ballroom Community, its supporters, countless volunteers, and of course, the REACH LA Staff.
